How to apply

Send your application to the Swedish Transport Agency.

An applicant that is a physical person (sole trader) must append the following documents to his/her application:

  • certification of professional expertise.

If the applicant is a legal entity, the following documents must be appended to the application:

  • shareholders' register (for limited liability companies)
  • certification of professional expertise for the person responsible for the activity.

A fee is charged for the application. An invoice will be sent to you when your application has been received by the Swedish Transport Agency. Your application will not start being processed until the fee is paid.

Information about the permit

In order to conduct professional hire of passenger vehicles and terrain motor vehicles without a driver, you need a permit from the Swedish Transport Agency.

Requirements
The person responsible for the car hire activity must be able to certify his/her professional expertise. The permit holder must notify the Swedish Transport Agency if the person responsible for the car hire business or anyone else examined for the permit has been replaced. The permit holder must also notify the Agency if staff have been added, whose suitability needs to be examined.

The permit holder is obliged to register the vehicles used in the car hire business with the Swedish Transport Agency.

Permit issuer and supervision

The Swedish Transport Agency is the permit issuer and the supervisory authority.
