Home care (SoL)

Home care is granted by social services and consists of help and support to an individual in their own home or equivalent, so that the person can continue to live at home.

How to apply

Send your application to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate, see link.

Home care is the term for a collection of services granted by social services according to Chapter 4, Article 1 of the Social Services Act (SoL). These may be:

  • non-personal services, such as cleaning or shopping or
  • personal care, such as hygiene or help at mealtimes.

Certain other types of service that do not entail significant contact with the eligible person (for example social care alarms, delivery of meals, collecting and delivering laundry, etc.) are not subject to authorisation.
