Vehicle scrappage
How to apply
Send your application for authorisation to the county administrative board in the county in which your vehicle scrappage business will primarily take place. A fee is charged by the county administrative board for processing the authorisation application. You can apply for the authorisation electronically via the button below.
Information about authorisation
Worn-out motor vehicles can be left with an authorised vehicle scrapper or reception location, i.e., a place designated by the manufacturers to receive worn-out motor vehicles. Worn-out motor vehicles includes passenger cars, buses and trucks, the total weight of which does not exceed 3,500 kg and which are classified as waste.
Leaving worn-out motor vehicles with authorised vehicle scrappers is free of charge if an agreement has been entered into with the motor vehicle manufacturer concerning this. If no such agreement exists, the vehicle scrapper is entitled to charge a fee upon receipt of worn-out motor vehicles. The general rule is that anyone who sets up an undertaking engaged in vehicle scrappage must be authorised by the county administrative board in the county in which the activity will primarily take place.
Requirements
To be authorised as a vehicle scrapper, you must have a facility that fulfils the environmental requirements set by the municipal environmental office. You must also show that you have the right to make use of the facility and have a building permit for the facility. Furthermore, the responsible people in the company may not be minors, declared bankrupt or be under administration.
Application and supervision
The county administrative board processes the application for authorisation and is the supervisory authority.
