Important income tax return dates for sole traders

We have listed the most important dates for those of you who have to file an income tax return for a sole proprietorship. You can also watch a short film that describes how preliminary tax, income tax returns and final tax statements are connected.

Keep track of these dates

4–8 March

You will receive your income tax return to your digital mailbox. (And as a pdf to My Pages on the Swedish Tax Agency's website).

15 March–15 April

The paper declaration is sent to your home. If you do not have a digital mailbox, you will receive your paper declaration by post.

19 March

The online tax return opens. You who have an e-identification can log in to the "Inkomstdeklaration 1" e-service.

2 May

Last day to file your income tax return. The exception is if you, or your accounting firm, have delayed submitting the return.

13 May

Last day to submit a VAT return if you report for a full year.

16 May

Last day to file your income tax return for those who have delayed submitting the return.

4–7 June

Tax refund for those who filed their income tax return no later than May 2.

17 June

Last day to file your income tax return if you have a an approved delay in submitting the return through your accounting firm.

30 June

By this date, your preliminary tax return for 2023 must have been received by the Swedish Tax Agency.

12 November

The back tax must be paid (The date of the last day to pay the back tax depends on when you receive your final tax notice, which is 90 days after the final tax notice. July 12, September 12 or November 12 are the dates that apply).
