General tariff on goods from the EU
The EU and the United States have reached a political agreement under which most goods exported from the EU are now subject to a 15 percent tariff. The agreement was announced on July 27, 2025. You can read more details about the agreement at the National Board of Trade Sweden.

Duty-free value limits for imports from the EU to the US
Starting August 29, the US will remove the rule that allowed goods worth up to $800 to be imported to the US without paying duties. This means that all shipments (except mail) must be declared regardless of value, origin, or how they’re transported and will be subject to duties, taxes and other charges upon entering the US.

Goods
- The US is the largest partner for exports of goods to the EU and the second largest for imports of goods.
- The EU was the second largest partner for exports of goods to the US in 2022 and the largest for imports of goods.
Services
- The US was the largest partner for exports of services to the EU in 2023, as well as for imports of services.
- The EU was the largest partner for exports of services to the US in 2022 and also its largest for imports of services.
Consequences of tariffs
When the US introduces tariffs on products from EU companies, they become more expensive and therefore risk being sold less. When the EU responds by introducing tariffs on US products, they become more expensive for EU consumers.
