Information about accreditation
Businesses that sell goods or services in return for cash payment must use cash registers with a certified control unit or a certified control system.
This applies to shops, dentists, hairdressers, and all manner of businesses. The law requires certified control units/systems that have been certified by an accredited certification body.
It is the control unit connected to the cash register that must be certified. Each cash register with a certified control unit is to have a manufacturer's declaration. With this declaration, the manufacturer of a cash register with certified controlled unit certifies that it is tested and that the cash register and control unit function together.
Some businesses are exempt from this requirement on their cash registers, for example, distance and doorstep sales, vending and slot (gambling) machines, and businesses with sales of negligent scale.
Accreditation and supervision
SWEDAC is responsible for accrediting the certification bodies that certify control units/systems. The Swedish Tax Agency ensures compliance with the law by means of unannounced visits to business operators.
