Data localisation requirements
Regulation (EU) 2018/1807 aims to facilitate the free movement of non-personal data within the EU. It contains a general prohibition to introduce data localisation requirements. Exceptions may only be made if justified on grounds of public security.
When new such requirements, or revisions of existing requirements, are introduced, they shall be notified to the National Board of Trade Sweden and the Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. The Agency for Economic and Regional Growth shall publish such requirements on the Single Point of Contact for Services.
The agencies have not received information of new data localisation requirements since the EU Regulation entered into force in 2019.
