Debt collection activities
How to apply
Applications for debt recovery licence are made to Finansinspektionen.
Anyone who only collects debts that have arisen in their own business does not need a licence. Nor does the person who collects debts from companies that are part of their own group need a licence. Anyone who has some form of authorisation from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, Finansinspektionen, and therefore is under Finansinspektionen\'s supervision does not need a licence. Lawyers and employees of law firms may also collect clients’ debts without a licence.
Licences may only be issued if the business can be assumed to be conducted in an expert and judicious manner. IMY makes its assessment based on the descriptions of the activities requested in the application form and with the qualification documents and different types of certificates specified in the form.
