Lasers
How to apply
Send your application to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
About the permit
Those who conduct activities in which a laser is used must apply for a permit from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. A permit is required for the use of powerful lasers (classes 3B and 4) for entertainment, art or advertising purposes, such as in connection with laser shows or at nightclubs, but also for other uses that emit radiation in public spaces or in Sweden\'s air territory.
A permit is required to manufacture, possess, use, acquire, sell, lease or transfer powerful laser pointers (classes 3R, 3B and 4), or to import such devices into Sweden.
Requirements
Those who conduct a business or activity involving lasers or powerful laser pointers are to be well acquainted with how the equipment should be used and must be aware of the risks associated with their use. For trade involving powerful laser pointers, the applicant must also be deemed suitable to operate the business, such as by being law-abiding.
Permit issuer and supervision
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority is the permit issuer and the supervisory authority.
You may submit your application for a permit electronically using this service, or by email to registrator@ssm.se.
