Slaughter of poultry
How to apply
Send your application for approval to the Swedish Food Agency. There is no special application form.
About the permission
If the primary producer has an on-farm poultry slaughter establishment and slaughters more than 10 000 poultry per year, the National Food Agency is the controlling authority.
If the holding does not slaughter more than 10 000 poultry per year, it is the municipality that performs the control. The meat from slaughter in such an establishment may only be sold directly to the consumer and to retail establishments, which in turn sell directly to the consumer.
If marketing is to take place by other ways, the holding must be approved as a slaughterhouse.
Read more about “activities handling food of animal origin” on the National Food Agency’s website (see link).
Permit issuer and supervision
