What does the critical raw materials act entail?
The Critical Raw Materials Act aims to strengthening the EU’s own capacity for extraction, processing, and recycling.
For companies, this may mean gaining access to faster and more predictable permitting processes for strategic projects in extraction, processing and recycling.
What are critical and strategic raw materials and which companies are covered by the regulation?
Contact points
In Sweden, six county administrative boards are appointed as contact points according to the regulation on critical raw materials. The contact points shall facilitate and coordinate the permit process for projects covered by the EU regulations.

Permit Processes
For companies covered by the Critical Raw Materials Regulation, multiple permits, exemptions or notifications are often required. At the same time, there is an opportunity to be recognised as a Strategic Project by the EU Commission within the scope of critical raw materials, which may lead to shorter processing times and a faster permitting procedure.
Funding Opportunities and Financial Services
There are many organisations, both in Sweden and across the EU, that offer various types of grants, loans and credit to companies working with critical raw materials. We have compiled a selection of public actors that provide funding opportunities and advisory services.
